Dr. Alojz Ihan is doctor of medicine, specialised in clinical microbiology and ordinary professor of microbiology and immunology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana. He was born in 1961 in Ljubljana, where he graduated and continues to work.
Between 1991 and 1992, he worked at the National Cancer Research Institute in Genoa, Italy, and obtained a PhD with a dissertation entitled Isolation and Identification of Cell-Membrane Proteins Defining the Alloreactivity of Natural Killer T-Cells in Humans. In recent years, he has been focusing on physical insufficiencies and immune-system disruptions in children.
Apart from his scientific work in medicine, he is a renowned and pluri-awarded writer of fiction, essays and poetry.
