“We believed we could predict the future...”
Dr. Renata Salecl is a philosopher and researcher at the Institute of Criminology, Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana. She is studying contemporary social phenomena from the point of view of psychoanalysis. She has been lecturing in psychoanalysis and law for over fifteen years at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York. She has also been a visiting professor at the London School of Economics, where she has introduced the subject Psychoanalysis and Modern Society.
She is the author of a series of scientific books, among which Choice, On Anxiety and Tyranny of Shock. Together with Dr. Henrietta Moore, the William Wyse Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge, she is writing a book combining anthropology with psychoanalysis, philosophy, contemporary science and genetics: Future Perfect – Myths about Good Life and Avoidance of Death, from Shaman to Modern Science.
