Ulay

performance artist

“Relations between people have been mostly directed by greed from prehistory.”

Frank Uwe Laysiepen is known by the wider public by his stage name Ulay as a performance artist. He made his first steps into the world of fine arts as a photographer. He had his own photography studio and for a brief time worked as a consultant to Polaroid.
In the Seventies, he became one of the leading figures of body and performance art. Recently, he has been exploring water sources and is striving to raise awareness about the value of water, access to water by everyone, which is the key objective of his multidimensional art project Water to All.
He is unforgivingly exposing greed in our society, particularly when it is being hidden under humanitarian or charitable initiatives.
